Set in Korea and Japan, this mystery/thriller focuses on subtle portrayals of psychological tension between characters and shifts in emotion. Project Overview Title 《By You》 Format Independent short film Genre Mystery / Thriller Filming Locations South Korea / Japan Filming Schedule To be finalized later and discussed individually with selected casting candidates Screenings and Submissions Planned submissions to and screenings at film festivals in Korea and abroad --- Roles Female Lead and Supporting Roles - Gender: Female - Age: 21–32 - Casting: Lead and major supporting roles - Nationality: Any - Actors who can convey the tension and complex emotions characteristic of the mystery/thriller genre - Preference given to actors with strengths in nonverbal acting, including facial expressions, gaze, and breathing, as well as dialogue - Must be available to participate in filming in Japan Male Lead and Supporting Roles - Gender: Male - Age: 25–38 - Casting: Lead and major supporting roles - Nationality: Any - Actors who can express restrained emotions and strong dramatic tension - Preference given to actors who can naturally portray a character’s inner changes and psychological conflicts - Must be available to participate in filming in Japan ※ Detailed character information and script materials for each role will be provided separately to applicants who pass the first-round profile review. --- Compensation Lead Roles KRW 350,000–500,000 per shooting day Major Supporting Roles KRW 250,000–350,000 per shooting day ※ Final compensation will be discussed based on the role’s importance, number of shooting days, and the actor’s experience. Support for Filming in Japan The production company will cover the following Japan-location expenses separately from the performance fee. - Round-trip airfare - Local accommodation - Local transportation during the filming period - Meals on filming days ※ Detailed schedules and stay conditions related to overseas filming will be specified in the contract at the time of final casting. --- Audition Process 1st Round — Profile Review The first round will be conducted based on applicants’ profiles and acting videos. 2nd Round — Assigned Scene / Audition Applicants who pass the first round will receive a scene from the project or assigned lines and will proceed to an audition. A meeting with the director and a reading may be added if necessary. --- Preferred Qualifications - Experience appearing in independent or short films - Experience acting in the mystery / thriller / crime genres - Able to maintain tension even in scenes with subtle emotional changes - Preference for natural and realistic acting - No restrictions preventing participation in location filming in Japan - Japanese-speaking actors preferred ※ Japanese-language ability is not required and may vary depending on the role. --- Additional Information This is an independent mystery/thriller short film that places importance on characters’ emotions and psychological tension. Rather than casting based solely on appearance, we will focus on actors’ performance skills and interpretations of their characters. The final cast will enter into performance agreements covering the filming schedule, compensation, scope of portrait and video usage, and the scope of submissions to and screenings at film festivals in Korea and abroad.
