Hello! I’m actor Choi Ye-chan, and I love youth-oriented stories! One of my most distinctive physical features is my smile—I often hear that I have a really nice smile. When I smile, I strongly give off the image of a pure and wholesome young man, but I’m also often told that my atmosphere changes quite a bit when I’m still or expressionless. I believe my unique strength is having a face where a bright, gentle feeling coexists with a dark, cool atmosphere. I try to think as positively as possible, and rather than spending too long worrying, I’m the type to jump in and tackle things myself. When something comes up that I want to do, I have enough drive to move before I even think, so I’m not particularly afraid of new environments or challenges. I also have good stamina and a lot of energy, and once I set my mind to something, I’m passionate about seeing it through to the end. I’m often told that the phrase “passion is everything” suits me best, because both my body and heart are full of fire. Thanks to my kind and calm personality, people around me also often tell me that I’m “someone who makes you feel comfortable when you talk to them.” During my military service, I spent a great deal of time thinking about myself: what kind of person I am, what kind of person I want to become, and how I would live in society after completing my service. I made plans while reflecting on these questions. It has been almost 4 months since I completed my military service. These days, as I practice and work hard to adapt to society and pursue the acting I want to do, I feel that time is passing incredibly quickly. In the process, I think every day about what kind of actor I want to become. One thing I know for certain is that, rather than becoming an actor recognized simply for being good at acting, I believe I must first become a good person in order to become a good actor. The kind of good person I aspire to be is not someone who can be described with adjectives, but someone filled with positive, action-oriented expressions. I believe the direction of life I pursue is right only when my life is full of meaning expressed through verbs. Rather than being called “a cool person,” “a handsome person,” or “an amazing person,” I want to be someone described with positive, action-oriented expressions such as “someone who holds on and never gives up,” “someone who reaches out again even after being broken,” “someone who keeps running,” “someone who faces things instead of avoiding them,” and “someone who gets back up even after falling.” I don’t think I have many verbs that can describe me yet. But if I keep making an effort one step at a time, I hope that someday I will be someone who is defined not by adjectives, but by verbs—without needing to be explained at all.
