I played a drag queen. I remember working hard to practice dancing in heels as an artist who performs an androgynous performance that exaggerates femininity despite being male. I was disappointed that I could not appear in the scene I was originally supposed to be in, but I remember the director being very satisfied on set, so it was a short yet rewarding project.

I played Cha Ji-seok. Hierarchy tells a story set in Jooshin High School, a class-based society. It portrays the unspoken hierarchy between the scholarship students who excel academically and the royal group who entered the school through their families’ wealth. Baek Chan-min’s group, among the scholarship students, wants to join the royal group, and I played Cha Ji-seok, Chan-min’s friend.

I played Lee Jong-hwan, a civil service exam candidate. He has worked hard for a long time to prepare for the police examination, but becomes frustrated by corruption in society. He visits Police Sergeant Shim Jong-oh to report it, then jumps from the police station rooftop and dies by suicide.

I played the lead role of Joo-won. Unable to do anything in the real world, the weak and helpless Joo-won escapes to a virtual world and trains to become stronger. He tries to meet his girlfriend from that world in real life, only to discover that she is a serial killer; he defeats her using the strength he developed through his training.

I played the lead role of Seong-gyun. Seong-gyun is a pathetic character who bullies friends weaker than himself but cannot even raise his head properly around successful friends. I remember trying to behave differently depending on whom he was dealing with.

I played the lead role of Jin-woo. After his father dies, Jin-woo lives alone with the robot his father built and begins to experience strange sensations. It seems the robot wants not only to take on his father’s role but to occupy his father’s place entirely. This is a thriller about uncovering the secret behind his father’s death.

I played the lead role of Min-su. Min-su is a hardworking police officer respected in his neighborhood. One day, while patrolling an alley in pursuit of a criminal, he sees a child crying in front of a wanted poster. After seeing the mother’s photograph on the poster, the child innocently asks Min-su to find the missing woman, leaving him heavy-hearted because the criminal he is searching for is the girl’s mother. Then a voice comes over the radio saying the suspect has been found, and Min-su struggles with whether he should take the child with him.

I played the lead role of Young-do. Young-do is a 19-year-old high school student experiencing confusion about his gender identity. Every day after school, he secretly puts on his older sister’s skirt and dances on the school rooftop. One day, while dancing without locking the rooftop door, he is discovered by his classmates Vita and Chan-min. The two had climbed up to commit suicide, and after Young-do’s identity is exposed, the three decide to jump together. When they look down, they witness the strange sight of a vast sea spread out below them.

I played the lead role of Jin-su. To confess his feelings to Yuri, whom he has secretly loved, Jin-su suggests that they practice tennis together. Excited at the thought of meeting Yuri that night, Jin-su runs to the university field with his racket, only to find Min-hyuk, rumored to be the handsomest guy in the department, there instead. Somehow, Yuri, Min-hyuk, and Jin-su decide to practice tennis together by rallying among the three of them. But when the ball strangely never comes toward Jin-su, he senses something is off and begins to realize that the two are having an affair.

I played the lead role of Dong-gi. Dong-gi, the leader of a failing film club, suggests that they make the best film ever because this meeting will be their last. The team begins arguing over how they could possibly afford such a major production, until a lottery ticket bought by a member who went out to purchase drinks wins first prize. The story begins from there. They viciously tear into one another in ways they never had before, and eventually submit a documentary to a film festival using footage recorded by CCTV.

(Best Actor Award, 9th Chungju Short Film Festival) I played the lead role of Lee Woo. After failing an audition and deciding to die by suicide, Lee Woo returns to his hometown. Just before he is about to die, he receives a phone call inviting him to participate in an audition. The film asks whether what keeps his ordinary life going is not an extraordinary opportunity, but a small act of attention.

(Invited to the 21st Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival) I played the supporting role of Min-gi. He is a younger brother who comes to Seoul to help his close older friend, who is quitting acting and returning to his hometown. Min-gi was also an actor, but is now a character who makes a living doing delivery-truck work. (The role was reduced due to adaptation and editing after filming.)

I played a minor role as a judge. I prepared for and portrayed a character who sharply evaluates and treats auditionees coldly.

(Best Film Award, 24th DICA Film Festival) I played the supporting role of Kim Yong-seong. I portrayed a character who gives false testimony in court to help his friend, Chairman Bonghwang, acquire shares.

I mainly played the role of Daesin, and also took on multiple roles, performing several characters at once. I remember thinking carefully about how to distinguish each role from the others.

(2nd Place, 19th Busan International Performing Arts Festival) This original play expresses the moments of a young person who runs toward a dream until youth turns into twilight, represented through changing shoes. I participated in the creation and acting, and won Best Duo not only in Busan but also at the World Two-Person Theater Festival.
